The Home Block, located at Mystery Creek south of Hamilton, looks over the Waikato River. A warm, sandy, sloping terrain characterises this picturesque vineyard.
Vintage 2006
The vintage was characterised by a calm bud-burst and no spring frosts. A short period of rain in the New Year reminded us of the wet February the year previous. A warm and dry summer allowed slow grape development. The last row of white wine grapes was picked on a Thursday afternoon followed by a week of heavy rain. A perfect vintage.
Wine
The grapes hand picked and whole bunch pressed to retain the elegance and purity of fruit along with the intensity of flavour. Juice was fermented and allowed to undergo malolactic fermentation. The wine was then matured for three months on lees with occasional stirring to encourage complexity and enhance mouthfeel.
Packaging
Because we refuse to comprise on quality this wine is sealed with a screw cap.
