Vineyard

The Home Block at Mystery Creek, south of Hamilton on the banks of the Waikato River. A warm, sandy, sloping terrain characterises this picturesque vineyard.

The Cooks Beach vineyard is a north facing vineyard planted on free-draining soil with a sandy base.

Vintage 2006

A frost free spring and good flowering allowed a generous crop to develop with thinning taking place in early January and late February. A long, hot summer continued with almost full ripeness being achieved across the two vineyards. Picking in early April before heavy rain hit allowed a harvest of clean fruit of good quality and volume

Wine

Matured and fermented in French and American oak, this Pinot exhibits a strong savoury and spicy nose with an elegant front palate. Ripe cherries and raspberries with an underlying savouriness and well integrated tannins balance the wine out. A wonderful food wine, especially with duck and other game and tomato based pizza.

Packaging

Because we refuse to comprise on quality this wine is sealed with a screw cap.
