Vineyard

The grapes were grown on the Te Marama vineyard on the southern side of the Bombay Hills at Mangatawhiri, on a north facing slope with underlying mature volcanic clay loam soil overlying a sandstone bedrock.

Viticulture

100% handpicked fruit from the Chave clone of Syrah. Harvested in late April it has fresh natural red berry fruit characters while retaining a strong, lingering acidity essential for a good rose.

Winemaking

Whole bunches gently crushed and soaked for 18 hours on their skins to extract sufficient flavour and colour without allowing astringent characters to develop. Gently pressed resulting in a delicate light red juice which was cold fermented in stainless steel with a strain of yeast which imparts a slight spritzig tang to the wine and preserves inherent fruit characters.

Packaging

Sealed under a screw cap to retain the quality and freshness.
