The Opaheke vineyard, located in South Auckland, on the outskirts of Papakura. A warm, sheltered vineyard, close planted with six vintages behind it.

Vintage 2006

2006 was a vintage that allowed us to harness nature’s gift of noble rot (botrytis). Characterised by a calm bud-burst and no spring frosts followed by a short period of rain in the New Year then a warm and dry summer allowing slow development. With rain and heavy dews all making their presence well felt around vintage the fruit became infected with noble rot, allowing us to produce our first dessert wine.

Wine

The botrytised fruit was selectively picked over 10 days, basket pressed and fermented for 18 months to let it reach full development.
